Seems like a life time ago Danny made this video for us. It was filmed on Waitangi Day - doesn't that seem like ages ago? It was a sunny, happy, busy day.
Busy. This is a word I'm going to try and drop from my vocab - just for now. I keep having to remind myself that there's no need to rush and do. The juggling act can stop for a little while. We aren't on our last bag of curly fries at 1.42pm on a sunny Saturday and the Eftpos machine hasn't lost wifi connection and run out of receipt paper. We aren't short staffed and Simon isn't overwhelmed with more bikes and a heart-felt obligation to fix every one of them. We're not low on hire bikes for large groups wanting to all go out together and our race against time to find new premises can be put on hold - just for now.
For the next little while we will deliberately try and appreciate that we don't need to feel an overwhelming responsibility to play and order and manage and fix and drive and listen and clean and plan and eat and cook and feed and love and shop and post and socialise and discipline and exercise and watch all at the same time. Just for now we will take a moment to slow down, just breathe, do one thing at a time, and enjoy it. And so long as we're smart, we'll be healthy too.
We are lucky. All of our problems are good ones but mean we very seldom get to appreciate the little things and being present in the moment usually has to come later. Later very seldom happens. Actually, later is now.
We will be taking a little break from managing our Get Fixed Bicycle Cafe social media channels but if you need anything at all email us - email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We love this community and feel so privileged to run a little business here. Let's get through this pause in normality together as unscathed as we possibly can. In the meantime, the only house party's we will be having with family and friends outside of our bubble will be happening here https://houseparty.com/. So for now, maybe it's time to create some better habits, appreciate more and do less. Please look after yourselves and each other. Be smart and stay safe.
