Titahi Bay Artist Claire Clark Donates a Post Lockdown Piece to Get Fixed

Updated: Jun 22, 2020

This week Claire Clark gifted us a print of the watercolour she created when we first came out of lockdown and opened using click and collect at the beginning of level 3. We will treasure it. It’s a memory of a crazy time for all of us. Ours was one of several scenes Claire documented around the local area during that time.

Claire and her husband Tom are regulars at Get Fixed and have supported us with their custom for the past couple of years. It’s funny though, it’s not until you really get talking that you find out the most remarkable things.

When Claire stopped by to drop in our print the conversation turned to her creative passion and then on to past pursuits and it turns out that this Titahi Bay local was the organiser of a significant exhibition held at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul on April 17 2015. It featured nearly 100 works by New Zealand servicemen stationed overseas in World War I. The exhibition was of such importance that Claire received an email from Prince Philip (who was the Admiral of the Fleet of the Royal New Zealand Navy) to wish her all the best.

So now when you visit, check out Claires print taking pride of place up on our wall. #localhero
